5 Tools To Accomplish Your 2020 Goals

Happy New Year, everybody! ! The twenty-teens are a thing of the past and we have a fresh new year and decade to dream about. How crazy is that?! It can definitely be intimidating, but it can also be really encouraging to be able to choose to conquer the year before it conquers you. From financial goals, to spiritual goals, to making the most of your commute, here are my top 5 tools to help accomplish your goals for the new year. Now go live a life you love, and make your dreams a reality!

Developed by Dave Ramsey, this is free tool is simply the best budgeting app out there. It helps you get out and stay out of debt, set goals, and take control of your financial life. You can use it online on a desktop, or on any mobile device with the app -they will sync together automatically. A friend of mine introduced me to this app and honestly this way of thinking about money 3ish years ago, and it changed so much for me. Most people are either savers or spenders. I was a saver, but it was out of fear, not out of wisdom. We are by no means financial guru's, but this is definitely helping us take control of our financial lives, and it is one of the tools I am most excited to continue using in 2020. If you want to go the extra mile to learn more about how to do the same, you can enroll in Financial Peace University, or check out the Dave Ramsey Network podcasts!

You've probably seen ads on Instagram about HelloFresh, a customizable meal-kit service that ships right to your door when you need it. We have used it off and on over the past year or so and have really enjoyed it! The recipes are easy, the prices are reasonable, and the food is honestly really good! You get to keep the recipe cards, but if you aren't into saving the physical papers, they have a user-friendly app where you can see recipes and choose your future meals. I have a friend who works for HelloFresh, so I've got a code to get $90 off your first 4 boxes! Use the code at checkout to get your discount: 90SNA060. In any given day or week, many of our lives are overwhelmed with things we need to accomplish. Beyond that, we have ideas that pop into our heads at random times that we want to remember -from restaurants we want to try out, to that one thing we need to remember to grab at the store next time we go. Guys. I can rave about this app forever. I've been using it for nearly 5 years now, and it is a life saver. The ultimate to do list. You can share lists with your family and friends, you can set due dates (perfect if you are a student with syllabi floating around everywhere), it will sync with your calendar, you can make folders, and even look back on your completed to-do's so you can realize how much you've gotten done. I do a quick walk through of the app in my Instagram Highlight "10/10" if you need to see the layout more. But honestly. YOU WILL NOT REGRET THIS. Quick note... Microsoft recently bought Wunderlist, so the title will be changing to "Microsoft ToDo" in May. My husband already switched to the new format, and it's almost exactly the same and still includes all the best features.

A lot of Christians make spiritual goals for the new year. "I want to read the whole bible this year," and "I want to pray more," are pretty common ones -maybe those are goals for you! Whatever the spiritual goal may be, prayer and bible reading are usually pretty central, as those are the primary ways we hear from and talk to the Lord. I want to recommend a Journaling Bible for 2020 because you can not only write down your thoughts and even sermon notes from church, but you can also write down the date you read it, and prayers along the way. This year, I got this incredible set of journaling bibles and I am so excited to get started. It's a little pricey, so here's a cheap basic one that I would recommend (used that one throughout my college years and I loved it). Not sure how to use it? Check out "I Have A New Journaling Bible - How Should I Mark It Up?" from desiringGod.

Okay, this might seem like an easy one or a cop out, but if you have not tapped into the magic of podcasts yet, do it this year! Make the most of your commute, your cleaning, and other mindless tasks by filling your mind (and ears) with curated content from relatable voices about the topics you want to hear about. Take any goal you have and search for podcasts with that content, and I guarantee you will find something for it. Some of my favorites include Rachel Cruze for financial inspiration, Real Life Podcast with Jeff & Alyssa Bethke for family and relationships, Jenna Kutcher's Goal Digger to keep me going on the blog, and First15 to keep me focused on the Lord. If you want to hear about something even more specific, Audible is a great way to read without reading. You can choose from virtually any book you like and listen to it over and over again. Memberships are about $15/month and that gives you 1 book credit/month, plus anything else you want to purchase on top of that. There are so many books and podcasts out there, so these are great tools for ANYONE to use to make the most of the year ahead.

Hope these are helpful tools for you! They are definitely game changers for me. If you have any suggestions of tools that should be added to this list, reach out on my instagram page here. Happy 2020, everyone!
